Armagh butcher hopes to pass on mantle after 21 years on high street
While the business has been listed on the property market as a going concern, Richard is keen to highlight that 'The Butcher' is not closing...
An Armagh city butcher has told how he hopes to pass on his thriving business to a new owner after 21 successful years in business.
Richard Irwin, who owns and manages the longstanding and well established business 'The Butcher' on Armagh's Upper English Street, says the time has come for him to take an early retirement.
Speaking to Armagh I, Richard explained: "I've had 21 years there in a thriving business, but I've decided to take an early retirement and move the business on.
"They were good years. The Armagh people were very supportive, but there comes a time in life when you decide to step back and take it easy.
"But we were very well supported, and that's why we've been here for 21 years."
While the business has been listed on the property market as a going concern, Richard is keen to highlight that 'The Butcher' is not closing. Nor is it being sold due to financial difficulties.
"I just want to reiterate that the business is for sale," he said. "The business is successful. People think things are bad but it's actually the complete opposite."
The popular business is now available as a "turn-key opportunity" with offers invited via Redian Real Estate Agents.
The shop features wood-panelled ceilings, bright lighting, and an open layout on a busy shopping street with constant footfall.
A property listing describes the fully-fitted butcher's shop as being "ready immediately" including fully installed refrigerated display counters, multiple weighing scales, stainless steel preparation areas, and a rotisserie unit to the front and large preparation area and fridge to rear.
All equipment is described as being in "excellent condition and fully operational".
Staff are also provided the benefit of secure, rear parking with road access.
It should be noted that the business is for sale only as the premises is rented.
