Armagh I is a Loyalist p***k
Good morning! Please forgive the subject line but it's a good illustration of the sorts of comments we tend to receive every now and then. Incidentally, under the very same comment, someone said that they thought Armagh I was 'the opposite'! It swings both ways with the comments, flip a coin and lob the insult of choice.
The comment came in response to a Council story we ran on flags and town centre neutrality, a story recounting – almost verbatim – the two-sided debate in Council chamber on Monday night. It had no opinion, just a recap of what was said but sometimes it's a case of shooting the messenger.
Back when Armagh I first started (cliché alert) in a bedroom in 2012, I would have been horrified at a comment knocking the website, in fact, when they first started rolling in I was for packing it all up – I was mortified, I took it personally. Some of those comments were actually personal, from complete strangers, but when you're accused of sitting on both sides of the same fence on a single story it can only be taken as a compliment.
For the record, we just love news.
Speaking of comments...
Our story on Frenchman Hubert Giraudeau, who is part of a team of helpers who have been clearing the grass verge between Armagh Road and Corcrain Road, garnered a few comments. One in particular from Neil Stratton was interesting.
Those doing litter picks should be given rates relief
Litter is a scourge and more needs to be done but maybe it shouldn't have to fall to people like Hubert, but if and when it does, surely there should be something in return...
We want to know about your job...
We're running a new weekly feature where we speak to individuals in a given company about their role, what they do, how they got there and any advice they would have for people looking to do something similar. If you would like to share with us, please let us know. Or if you run a company and want to highlight the role of an individual, again, please reach out.
