'If we have any cold snap at all, it's going to be horrendous'
The decision took moments – all councillors in agreement on the importance of what could prove life-saving. It hasn't been like this at Council all too often recently. It's a simple decision but not inconsequential. Last night, a leisure committee on ABC Council agreed to have special signs erected, which will display the telephone number of the Samaritans, in six public parks within the borough.
"Anything we can do at all, particularly now with the winter we're going to have, a very challenging winter that will have a huge impact on people's mental health when we look at the cost-of-living crisis." – Cllr Mark Baxter.
These are tough times; and tougher times ahead. This could make such a difference.
On that note, we've had a flurry of contact from residents in desperate need of help. We are working on a number of stories at the moment and we have told a few of them. Thank you for allowing us to help you – please keep sharing as there have been a few positive outcomes where action has been taken, or at least promised. These are indeed tough times.
