Is our recycling system about to be scrapped?
Re-Gen Waste have enlisted Armagh I's help to get some public feedback...
The Department of Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs (DEARA) has launched a consultation on the future of recycling.
This consultation calls for input from all of us into how waste is collected from Northern Ireland’s households and businesses.
DEARA are interested in implementing a ‘uniform’ strategy on waste collection across Northern Ireland as whole and this could mean the introduction of a ‘sorted waste’ system that could see households managing up to six bins.
Yet, it was only two years ago that householders in the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough council area received their comingled green wheelie bins.
An NI-wide poll conducted in 2022 also revealed that an overwhelming majority of ABC residents were quite happy with the new system – so happy in fact that they recycled all they could!

The folks at Newry-based Re-Gen Waste believe a fully mixed recyclable waste collection system, known as commingled, is better for the taxpayer, for the environment and for you.
So, they have enlisted the help of Armagh I to get some public feedback…
