Meet the air traffic controller equivalent for Irish lorries..

armaghi.substack.com

Good morning! It's Micheal here. Firstly, enjoy these few days of sun – it's probably going to be our lot for the summer.

Once again, it has been a busy week, despite the few days holidays sandwiched in between for the Twelfth. I'm not really sure what holidays mean anymore given our seven-days-a-week news cycle. Any one fancy doing a weekend shift? (That's half a joke).

In those seven days we've had some powerful stories...I'm hoping some of our newsletter readers have seen this in some form or other already but Conor's interview with David Livingstone this week was a special one. Watch the video below.

Speaking to people is so special, like it was David, as we firmly believe – in fact, we know – everyone has a story to tell. Please just reach out to us and share your story, or maybe that of a friend, or family member. We want to hear it – and share it with others too.

We'd be keen to know if this newsletter is something you'd perhaps consume more often, or if you'd prefer it on a different day – Sunday? Monday morning? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

We've also soft launched our new jobs platform www.armaghjobs.com. While we've previously housed our jobs on the main site – we still will – our new site offers additional and more appropriate job functionality. It will have its home on Armagh I as always.

We've also started a new Jobs Profiled section on Armagh Jobs – it's a simple Q&A with a person in a specific role. We ask them about their job among other things. The first one we have compiled is Helen McNamara, who is a customs clearance agent, with Armagh transportation company Allied Fleet Services. Check it out here.

Get Active

Couch 2 5km is back but with a difference! It’s now a virtual programme so everyone can join in and walk, jog or run at their leisure.

Taking up running can seem like a scary prospect, especially if you feel out of shape or unfit.

The concept is simple and suitable for recreational runners who need a little extra encouragement and advice on how to get back into or starting running. Couch to 5K works because it starts with a mix of running and walking to gradually build up your fitness and stamina.

By the end of the eight-week programme, participants will be able to complete a 5km Parkrun.
