Shock at road death and brothers dying within a week of each other
Good morning, it was a sad start to the week with the death of All Folk'd Up band member Barry Mohan on the Monaghan Road in Middletown just before 6am on Monday. The band are so well-known; not just locally but further afield and the tributes across social media indicate just how huge of a following that was. Such a sad loss for him, his family and everyone who knew him.
There was also a dark cloud over Lurgan with the sudden deaths of two brothers – both young men – within a week of each other. Again, the heartbreak of that family and kids.
There was something we didn't publicly report this week – a sad, startling and heartbreaking claim made by a Southern Trust nurse. Unfortunately we have been unable to stand the claim up, which is why we haven't published it to date. The reason I make this point is we get a lot of emails from people looking us to chase stories up for them – and we do. However, we do need to open a dialogue and check the veracity of what readers are telling us; sometimes there's more to a story. On this occasion we have been unable to double check a few things which makes it very difficult for us to publish anything. We will always keep a source anonymous if that's their wish, and if a story can be verified without naming the individual, we will do that. Just a nudge to this nurse, and any potential source, keep that dialogue open...
