'Shoot me!' Drama in Armagh takeaway
Plus, £3.5m supermarket and filling station given green light
Good morning readers. Our newsletter leads with the rather extraordinary events in Armagh on Tuesday evening whereby a chip shop on Barrack Street – just down from our own offices – was held up by a 19-year-old who demanded police to “shoot him”. Details of the incident, which included a suspected arson attack on the house he was residing, were relayed in court. The man, originally from Somalia, requested bail. To the surprise of nobody, the judge rejected it out of hand.
It’s good news for Loughgilly as a new £3.5m supermarket and petrol station has been given the green light. This will be a huge economic boost to the area and will also lead to the creation of some new jobs, both in the construction phase, and when it’s up and running.
