Skydive in memory of Conor Molloy and Zak McIldoon will support Gilford mental health charity
Plus, sudden passing of father-of-two stuns Lurgan community
Two Gilford men are among four taking part in a charity skydive in memory of Conor Molloy and Zak McIldoon, with funds raised to support Changing Lives NI, a local mental health charity.
Aaron Thompson and Eoin McManus decided to do a fundraiser for the charity in memory of their friends, and of those who went too soon.
Conor Molloy passed away in November following a period of time in hospital in Australia.
The 23-year-old, who was an electrician by trade, had been working down under for the last two years.
His illness sparked a fundraising campaign which has, to-date, raised just under £50,000 in support of his family.
Zak McIldoon passed away peacefully in Craigavon Area Hospital in February at the age of 17.
Aaron and Eoin contacted Changing Lives NI to arrange an event, and decided to do something that would push them out of their comfort zone - jumping out of a plane at 15,000 ft.
Once the idea of a skydive was mentioned, two of the charity’s trustees - Jason McIldoon and Joanne Martin - 'jumped' at the chance to join them.
A JustGiving page has been set up to support the appeal, and has already raised over £3,000.
The money will be used to help Changing Lives NI provide in-house counselling services and ongoing support.
The four will be jumping on February 22, 2025.
