Teen sexually harassed by boss in Armagh ice-cream parlour awarded £54,000
Plus, it's a case of the wacky races as one kicks off in Armagh and one is cancelled in Tandragee
G’day folks! Rikki here with you this morning. If you are from County Armagh.. or indeed anywhere in Northern Ireland, you’ll have heard of, if not been to the Tandragee 100, at least once in your life! The blue ribbon event in any motor racing enthusiast’s life has been cancelled!!
It would seem the cost of living is now starting to take grip on the events’ calendar as the North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club announced that “part due to the untenable increase in premium quoted for insurance as a result of turbulence within the insurance industry” the hugely popular event would not happen in 2023.
This happened just after Armagh I had spent the evening in Armagh City at the Brooks Armagh International Road Race where we had a great evening chatting to people and drinking tea.. oh and working. Yes, we of course have a video! Check it out here.
We spoke to one lady who was very enthusiastic to “see Armagh I everywhere”, perhaps making reference to our new Barrack Street office. We never get tired hearing this, after all only last week we helped a reader with housing issues, highlighted anti-social behaviour and even crowned 12 winners at our People of the Year Awards, all because of you our loyal readers!
On a parting note – before kicking off with the news – I had cause to use the services of our NHS this week – don’t worry everything’s intact. Following what I can only describe as just about one of the worst 24 hour periods of my life (I’m 38 by the way), I tip my hat to the medical staff in all our hospitals. The job they do is very hard and I witnessed first hand the pressures they work under. It’s very easy to point fingers and complain, the problem is that when everyone does that it creates a very difficult environment which by return leads to breakdowns in services by adding to already very strained circumstances.. I leave you with that thought ….
On with the news..
