There's not a day goes by we don't think of him

Good morning! It's Micheal here. Today would have been Armagh man Brendan Bell's 32nd birthday.

Benny lost his life in Navan Fort Quarry on April 10, 2010, aged 20, after getting into difficulties while swimming.

His sister Mary Bell said her family wanted to remind people of the dangers as they "never want any other family to go through the same loss as we have". Read the full piece here.

Brendan 'Benny' Bell would have been 32 today.

New recruit...

It has been another big week for us at Armagh I. We're absolutely delighted to say we've added to our team. Kellie Gray has joined our marketing department and we have high hopes – no pressure whatsoever Kellie :)

Kellie, of Sally McNally's at the Corner fame, brings a wealth of experience – from social media, writing, sales and all-round business acumen. She joined on Monday and has been brilliant.

We are now a team of six. Myself, Conor, Rikki, Mairead, Elaine and Kellie.

We've always been a digital-only company but we are really looking at increasing our physical presence. We have our Armagh office but we are here to support the community too. It's hard with such a small team but we want to get out more and speak to people right across County Armagh, Newry and Banbridge, both our journalists and marketing team.

We held our People of the Years Awards earlier this year and they were a massive success; we'll definitely be doing that again, but in terms of events, we want to do so much more (when Covid is much less of an issue of course). Think quizzes, markets, crafts, treasure hunts, you name it we're willing to try it – and we're open to suggestions.

Give us your thoughts on stuff you'd like us to do, or facilitate. Get in touch the usual ways, or just reply to this email, we love hearing from you.
