'Beer Never Broke My Heart'... but ticket scams will!
Scams galore as Armagh country music fans battle for Luke Combs tickets
Good morning! Welcome to the Armagh I newsletter, which drops into your inbox every Tuesday and Friday morning.
If you’ve been on any form of social media in the last few weeks, you’ve undoubtedly seen some variation of the following: “My wife and I had two tickets to see Luke Combs in Dublin in October but we can’t go… PM me for the tickets!”
Great! You might think: “Sure I’ve been looking for tickets for ages and the show is long since sold out. This random person on Facebook might just pull me out of a hole…..”
But as Luke’s album title suggests, ‘What You See Ain’t Always What You Get’!
Ticket fraud is proving to be a big problem, and many potential scams have been popping up on local community pages, so much so, that the PSNI have weighed in as festival season continues.
Their advice is that: “the safest way to ensure tickets bought are genuine is to purchase them from the authorised ticket seller or authorised reseller”.
Adding: “You should avoid buying tickets from other sources, such as third parties because you can never be sure of the validity and authenticity of the tickets.”
Of course, there’s surely some genuine sellers on social media who really AREN’T able to make the show and would love nothing more than to get their tickets into the hands of another hungry country music fan. But now that we’re down to the wire (Luke is taking to the stage in Dublin tonight and in Belfast tomorrow night) and tickets are ‘Going, Going, Gone’ you might be willing to just take a chance.
Our advice? DON’T RISK IT. Unless you’re absolutely sure that the source is reputable…
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!!!
