Morning everyone. Kellie here. Feeling slightly reflective this morning. Earlier this week you may have read a story about a very brave lady who spoke out about the abuse she suffered whilst in a relationship and of her relief as “justice was served”. This story struck a chord with many and I was no different. Sadly, it was my ability to relate to her story that made it resonate with me.I’ve been back and forth and back and forth about whether I should mention this today and it was only last night, after a similar conversation in a beautician’s of all places, that I realised there is no reason not to speak openly. Also, March is Women’s History Month and the theme this year is ‘providing hope and healing’ and conversation is part of that healing.Like the lady we spoke to, most people are scared to speak up for fear of not being believed, fear of rebuke or retaliation and fear of finality. It’s hard to make a change especially when you stand to have your whole world upended. But, to quote Springsteen for the second time in this newsletter (thanks for the inspo, Micheal) “You can’t start a fire, worrying about your little world falling apart”. It will fall apart for a while, but you re-build and things get better. Promise! So, talk.
