New multi-million pound Lidl; a £3.5m service station; and former bank to be turned into peace centre...
Good morning! It is Micheal with you here on the countdown to Christmas! Is it still too early to put up your Christmas tree? And here’s a poll I’d love to get the answers for….are you for the Bunker this day week?
If you’re thinking of a good deed to do this Christmas then think no more, why not give this newsletter a share with your friends and family…
Ps, we’re planning on serving up more news to the newsletter first, before it appears elsewhere – even the website. We’ve a few newsletter exclusives below.
Anyway, onwards and upwards towards 9,000 subscribers we go thanks to your generous sharing. We’re starting this morning on a positive too. Three significant planning applications have been lodged already this week. Well, one isn’t quite at the application stage yet, but the applicant is hopeful.
Last night, we reported on proposals to demolish the Gosford Service Station in Loughgilly – on the main Gosford Road – with a new £3.5m supermarket and petrol filling station to be built in its place. The initial reactions have been extremely positive in that it’s exactly what the area needs. Let’s hope this one bears some fruit.
In Dungannon, after several false dawns, there is a new hope on the horizon for the vacant – and derelict – Ann Street site. Mid Ulster Council had lofty plans to bring in a developer to reimagine the site in 2017 but that rocket of hope turned out to be little more than a damp squib. Now Lidl Northern Ireland have big ambitions…
Meanwhile, the former Bank of Ireland in Crossmaglen is set to be transformed into a community peace and reconciliation centre. And the team behind the initiative is the Darkley-based Crossfire Trust which officially opened up their hub in the premises in June.
Before, we get on with the rest of the news, I’m genuinely curious for the answer to this one…
